Los Angeles based Romantic/Crime/Drama. Love, lust and trust all enter into the dance of human emotions that make you ponder the reality of daily life. This is an easy to read and fast paced novel that makes you ponder how greed controls our lives. A contemporary story about a strong Latina woman the works for the police department and is caught up in a unfolding crime drama. Affairs, murders, and spontaneous uncontrollable events flutter in and out of the characters lives. In the end there is only Blood and butterflies.

Not a bad book overall, but there were alot of inconsistencies, incongrous situations, and it was clearly evident the author has no idea about the LAPD. I knew more from watching Dragnet in the late 60's as a little kid.

The characters were a too polished and very formulistic. Strong, ruddy man; erotic, young woman - both right off the cover of a romance novel. The story was pretty predictible right from the beginning. Boy and girl are enamored with each other but each are married... what to do, what to do. Ok, let's have an affair and then wonder why things go wrong in our lives. Yes, that is how many people react, but the author missed the point by really trying to make her characters into pretty lovable people who were just mis-guided. I actually thought the one character that showed the most depth was the protagonist's wife, even though she only had a small supporting role. In fact I was very disappointed that the wife didn't carry out her threat/fantasy to continue on with her affair - I think that could have been explored more and it would have added depth to the story.

I probabably would have given it a better rating but at $3.99 (I know, not that much for a book, especially these days) there are a ton of great authors charging the same or even less. I'll give Harman another shot.

Awesome tell about L.a. Centered around family love and mistakes that we make. I enjoyed the story. Very much a good read it was hard not to be reading it. even while driving....... Chracters are very realistic and i cried when they cried. I was startled with the main character. READ IT! )Blood and Butterflies
The book is fast-pace, unpredictable, and will keep you on the edge wondering what will become of the characters. Each character seems to have their own secrets but the situations they get into will not always be peaches and cream, deadly blood will lurk around!!If you are the type of person that loves drama, love and emotional consequences these characters are able to think for themselves about, this book is for you!
This book is amazing. Very hard to put down. Two thumbs up, 5 stars! I love how everything came together in the end and how the book was written. I can't wait to see what else this author has in store!
I was enthralled by the fast pace of this novel. I read it in two days, it was so difficult to put down. I enjoyed the synchronicity in the lives of the characters and how their paths interwove.

It was easy to relate to the main character, who so easily got caught up into an emotional roller coaster with his latin wife. I feel that his responsibility and committment to his son showed a more loving and balanced side to his personality. I didn't fully understand the reason for the first killing but again saw how through timing and bad placement he became a serial killer.

The LAPD couple and the affair I feel was my personal favourite twist in the plot. The death of the husband due to his illness and dual life felt so realistic, having personal insight into many lives, this sub plot illustrated a tragic reality of modern society.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading more from the author.
😃
This book hooked me from the beginning. I really found the in depth insight into each character by literally hearing their thoughts was an amazing approach to telling each of their perspective stories. It really helped to achieve the connection to the characters and an understanding of their situations. It may not have given way to approval of their actions but at least a mode of understanding why they behave in the ways that they do. It also kept you guessing as to how they would interact with each other and what they would do when certain conflicts and decisions arose. There were moments that I really felt for these people. I was surely invested from the beginning in the story not only from how it was told but from personal experience as well. The exploration of each individual's need to satisfy their inner selfishness and greed for love, money, lust, recognition, blood, and revenge led to an intriguing and captivating read. I kept anticipating the twists and turns of the plot but found they were unexpected and interesting.

One recommendation Try to avoid picking it up late at night and when you have to work in the morning. You will not get much sleep. I had to force myself to put it down to try to salvage a few hours of sleep and still spent another hour thinking about events that occurred or were about to occur in the novel. That is truly a recipe for an exhausting day. The good part about it being an easy read was that I was able to read fast enough and late hours to satisfy my own selfish thirst for more.

Can you continue the story?! Hoping to see more.

Thanks,
